Hello All,
I was an intermittent attendee of Hacking Society in Boulder, CO 2003 -
2006. I have since moved to Northern Virginia (Ashburn area).
There are a number of like-minded and bright people in the area that
have a need to dedicated time to work on computer/programming related
projects. And for diffusing of knowledge/ideas/inspiration.
I see there is a DC chapter that meets (if its active) in Bethesda, MD
http://hackingsociety.org/chapters/dchs/ however that is too far for
most of us.
I would like to propose setting up a NoVa hackingsociety chapter. We
would look for a welcoming coffee (w/free internet) shop within 25 min
(in traffic) of Dulles. I'll also be looking into local linux users
groups and maybe following the Boulder model of meeting in that time
slot and once a month going to the users group instead.
Let me know what you all think and if this meets the spirit. I don't
think I was a very good/active member, but I enjoyed all of my time at
Caffe Sole and I think it was a "good thing" that I'd like to see out
here in my new locale.
